So you just installed a Tesla charger at your commercial property to earn extra revenue... now what?

Installing a Tesla Wall Connector at your commercial property is a great first step toward generating passive income from EV charging while supporting the broader push for electric vehicle (EV) adoption. But once the EV charger is mounted and powered up—how do you start making money with your EV charger?

From connecting to Wi-Fi to registering your commercial EV site and setting up pricing, there are a few key steps to take before your Tesla EV charger for business starts generating revenue.

In this guide, we’ll walk you through everything you need to do to activate, commission, and monetize your Tesla charger installation.

Step 1: Connect Your Tesla Charger to Wi-Fi

Before anything else, your Tesla chargers must be connected to the internet. This is done using the Tesla One App, available for both Android and iPhone. Reliable internet connectivity is essential for commercial EV charging stations, especially if you plan to allow public EV charging access or monitor charger usage remotely.

Download the Tesla One App:

Once downloaded, follow the app’s prompts to connect your charger to Wi-Fi. Tesla also provides a helpful support page with video guides—check out the second video, which covers the Wi-Fi setup for Tesla Wall Connectors.

Step 2: Fill Out the Tesla Commercial Registration Form

Once your chargers are online, fill out Tesla’s Commercial Registration Form.

This form enables Tesla to create your business account, helping you list your chargers on Tesla’s in-vehicle navigation system and the Tesla Find-Us directory—crucial visibility for EV charger ROI and attracting Tesla drivers to your business location.

You'll need to provide:

  • Business contact and remittance information

  • Site name (as it will appear to Tesla drivers)

  • EV charging location details

Make sure the primary business owner or site manager completes the form.

Step 3: Send Required Information to Tesla

After submitting the registration form, email ChargingHost@tesla.com with the following:

  • A completed W-9 form for your business

  • Part and Serial Numbers of each Tesla charger installed

    • Example :Part Number: 173355213-02-ESerial Number: B7S24358J07739

You can find these numbers in:

  • Installation documentation

  • The Tesla One App (once chargers are connected)

  • On the physical Tesla Wall Connector (usually by the QR code)

In your email, also include a brief note confirming that the Commercial Registration Form has been completed.

What’s Next?

Once approved, Tesla will activate your chargers and give you access to Tesla for Business, their dashboard for managing pricing, usage, and EV charger analytics. You’ll soon be part of the rapidly growing network of businesses monetizing EV charging stations.
